On September 7, 2025, the board of directors and experts from the Mekong Institute, Can Tho University visited local businesses and farmers in Thoi Hung commune, Can Tho City to discuss opportunities and challenges for the region’s key agricultural systems.
The delegation toured the Sustainable Rice Cultivation Experiment Site and Thanh Nhan Cooperative, gaining insights into real-world needs and barriers faced by local businesses and farmers in applying science and technology, innovation, and digital transformation to boost production efficiency and strengthen agricultural value chains.
Based on this field survey and existing data, Mekong Institute’s leadership and experts are developing action plans as part of the Institute’s long-term strategy — with a focus on connecting “the four stakeholders” (government, scientists, businesses, and farmers) and strengthening the Vietnamese Mekong Delta’s role as a regional hub, both within Vietnam and across the Greater Mekong Subregion (GMS).
