On August 25, 2025, at the Mekong Institute – Can Tho University, Dr. Pham Cong Huu delivered a thematic presentation entitled “Ecosystem-based Transboundary Flood and Drought Management for Climate Change Adaptation in the Lower Mekong Basin.” The seminar attracted the participation of a large number of researchers, lecturers, and students, reflecting the strong interest of the scientific community in the region’s pressing challenges.

In a vibrant academic exchange atmosphere, many in-depth perspectives were shared, opening up multi-dimensional views on ecosystem-based integrated management approaches to address the increasingly frequent extreme climate events. Notably, this was the first thematic seminar organized since the official establishment of the Mekong Institute in July 2025, marking an important starting point in promoting the Institute’s science and technology activities as well as its international cooperation efforts.

In addition, participating experts proposed several related research ideas, laying the groundwork for the development of new project proposals to be led and coordinated by Dr. Pham Cong Huu. These proposals will continue to be developed and refined within the framework of cooperation with the Mekong River Commission and national and international development organizations, aiming to deliver sustainable and highly applicable solutions for the Greater Mekong Subregion.
