Within the framework of the 30th Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP30) taking place in Belém, Brazil
from November 10–21, 2025, Nguyễn Đức Trung, a researcher at the Mekong Institute, Can Tho University, proudly joined the Vietnamese youth delegation. He represented and shared the stories of young people from the Mekong Delta through various dialogue and engagement activities at COP30.
Growing from youth and climate programs under the cooperation between the Mekong Institute and the British Council—such as Youth Connect and Climate Skills—Trung has proactively initiated many projects, including CTU GreenEng and (add the names of the two newly submitted projects to CS). These initiatives aim to raise awareness and highlight the role of an English Studies student in approaching and engaging more deeply with issues of climate adaptation and resilience in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta.
With these experiences, Trung has pursued international opportunities and participated in multiple conferences at home and abroad in diverse roles: a young climate negotiator at the COP29 simulation conference in Egypt; a youth representative of Y-CoRe in an exchange program in Wales, United Kingdom; and a delegate in the Asia–Pacific Young Leaders Training Program on maritime and human security in Japan.
At COP30, Trung continues to contribute to youth dialogue activities, sharing practical experiences from the Mekong Delta along with recommendations on climate education, climate justice, and the power of youth-led initiatives. His presence serves as a testament to the pioneering spirit of Vietnamese Mekong Delta youth—those who are proactively shaping a green and sustainable future.
