The Mekong Institute, Can Tho University, organized Block 4 of the Global Immersion Guarantee (GIG) Program in Viet Nam, with the participation of 100 students and 8 staff members from Monash University. Block 4 marked the final cohort, officially concluding the four academic–practical blocks of the GIG Program implemented in Viet Nam.

The implementation of Block 4 further reaffirmed the role of the Mekong Institute, Can Tho University, in coordinating, connecting, and delivering academic activities closely linked to the practical context of the Mekong Delta. Through thematic exchanges and expert consultation sessions, the program enabled students to engage with key issues related to climate change, livelihood adaptation, innovation in sustainable agriculture and aquaculture, and urban flood management through Nature-based Solutions (NbS).

Within the framework of Block 4, students participated in academic discussion sessions combined with field visits, thereby strengthening the linkage between theoretical knowledge and practical applications in urban management and climate change adaptation. These learning activities helped students consolidate their knowledge base, enhance interdisciplinary thinking, and gain a deeper understanding of the sustainable development context of the Mekong Delta region.

The closing and wrap-up session of Block 4 officially concluded the entire four-block GIG Program series in Viet Nam. Students highly appreciated the academic and practical value of the program, while also acknowledging the role of exchange and consultation activities in broadening perspectives and enhancing experiential learning capacity in an international academic environment.
