On August 6, 2025, at the 4th-floor Hall of Can Tho University Library, a Consultation Meeting themed “Promoting the Adoption of Renewable Energy in the Agricultural Sector of the Mekong Delta” was held. The event was jointly organized by the Mekong Institute – Can Tho University and the Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST) Vietnam.

The event aimed to create a platform for in-depth dialogue on policies, practices, and opportunities to advance renewable energy in agricultural businesses. Participants shared experiences, discussed challenges, identified policy gaps, and proposed practical recommendations to promote sustainable and climate-resilient agricultural models in the Mekong Delta.

Attendees included representatives from partner organizations such as Pioneering Green Partnerships – Investing in Impact (P4G), ASSIST Vietnam, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Alternō, and Stride. From Can Tho University, the meeting was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hieu Trung – Vice President of the University, the leadership of the Mekong Institute, along with numerous lecturers, researchers, experts, business representatives, cooperatives, government agencies, and development organizations with an interest in renewable energy and sustainable agriculture.

The consultation featured presentations highlighting the practical effectiveness of renewable energy applications in agricultural enterprises, including cost savings, market expansion, and enhanced resilience to climate change. Panel discussions further clarified existing policy gaps, proposed solutions, and called for the establishment of a climate innovation business network in the Mekong Delta.

Within the framework of the event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony between Can Tho University and ASSIST Vietnam was held, laying the initial foundation for cooperation in promoting academic activities, policy dialogue, and community engagement in the fields of renewable energy and sustainable agriculture.

Through this event, Can Tho University reaffirmed its role as a research-oriented and innovation-driven university, ready to collaborate with domestic and international partners to disseminate knowledge, promote green transformation, and actively contribute to the sustainable development goals of the Mekong Delta in particular and Vietnam as a whole.
