On 6 February 2026, the People’s Committee of Tri Tôn Commune (An Giang Province) held a working session and a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony with the Mekong Institute – Can Tho University on cooperation in science and technology development, innovation, and digital transformation in support of local socio-economic development.
The event took place in the context that Tri Tôn Commune is orienting itself toward effectively harnessing its potential in agriculture, tourism, and indigenous culture, while strengthening linkages with research and training institutions to transform science and knowledge into key drivers for sustainable development. Participants included:

- Mr. Lam Thanh Si – Provincial Party Committee Member, Secretary of the Commune Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Council of Tri Tôn Commune
- Mr. Tran Van Cuong – Deputy Secretary of the Commune Party Committee, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Tri Tôn Commune
- Mr. Le Van Duong – Standing Member of the Commune Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Tri Tôn Commune
Along with officials and civil servants of the People’s Committee of Tri Tôn Commune.

During the working session, the two parties exchanged views, discussed, and reviewed key cooperation orientations for the coming period, focusing on strategic areas such as: smart agriculture and climate change–adaptive agriculture; sustainable land resource management and utilization; community-based tourism development associated with indigenous culture; grassroots-level digital transformation; and training, capacity building, and professional development for local officials.
The cooperation contents are implemented in line with Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on science, technology, and innovation development, and in connection with the resolutions of the An Giang Provincial Party Congress and the Tri Tôn Commune Party Congress for the 2025–2030 term.
At the working session, the People’s Committee of Tri Tôn Commune and the Mekong Institute signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the 2026–2030 period, concretized through three cooperation agreements to implement key projects, including:
A cooperation agreement to implement the project “Community-based tourism development in Tri Tôn Commune along the value chain, based on indigenous culture and digital transformation for the 2026–2030 period.”
- A cooperation agreement on the implementation of training courses for officials and Party members on the application of science and technology and digital transformation, aiming to enhance awareness, management capacity, and the ability to apply science, technology, and digital transformation in commune-level state administration.
- A cooperation agreement to implement the research project “Land suitability assessment for efficient and sustainable rice production in Tri Tôn Commune.”
- The signing of these cooperation memoranda is regarded as an important milestone, marking a new phase of collaboration between the People’s Committee of Tri Tôn Commune and the Mekong Institute – Can Tho University, with a focus on linking scientific research with practical local needs.
With its role as a research and advisory institution, the Mekong Institute will accompany Tri Tôn Commune in supporting policy formulation, transferring science and technology, promoting sustainable agriculture, developing community-based tourism, and accelerating grassroots-level digital transformation, thereby contributing to stable and long-term socio-economic development for the locality in the coming period.
