On 9 June 2026, the Mekong Institute, Can Tho University, hosted a knowledge-sharing session featuring Mr. Anil Gupta, an international volunteer under the Australian Volunteers Program, delivered by Australian Volunteers International (AVI) and supported by the Australian Government's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).  Participants included researchers from the Mekong Institute, students from Can Tho University, and members of ABAVINA. The session contributed to enhancing awareness of climate change, circular economy principles, and sustainable development while fostering connections between international experts and the academic and youth communities in the Mekong Delta.

🌍 During the session, Mr. Gupta provided an overview of key climate change challenges and impacts affecting the Mekong Delta, while highlighting sustainable development approaches and emerging solutions being implemented both regionally and globally.

♻️ A major focus of the workshop was the concept of the Circular Economy. Through a series of case studies from the Mekong Delta and around the world, participants explored practical approaches to reducing waste, improving resource efficiency, and promoting sustainable production and consumption systems.

The session also addressed the growing issue of electronic waste (e-waste), 5R model, and introduced the Zero Waste Auditor Certification, which aims to strengthen knowledge and capacity in waste management and zero-waste practices.

Designed as an interactive workshop, the event incorporated question-and-answer activities, group discussions, and experience-sharing opportunities. These interactive components encouraged participants to exchange ideas and discuss locally relevant solutions to sustainability challenges.
